Kenwood Cove Learn to Swim Program
The Salina Parks & Recreation Department is offering morning and evening swim lessons for the 2020 Summer season at Kenwood Cove Aquatic Park.
The prerequisite for each class level is the successful demonstration of the skills taught in the previous level. We currently do not have a record of swim class history. Beginners start at Level I, which does not have a skill prerequisite, however, the minimum age is 5.
To provide safe, age-appropriate activities, the Learn to Swim program is hesitant to make exceptions to age designations. Class sizes are limited in order to provide high-quality instruction and experience. Our classes follow the new Learn To Swim course levels adopted by the American Red Cross and are taught by certified water safety instructors and instructor aides.
Water safety staff reserve the right to change class placement for students to assure that they are receiving the proper level of instruction. Students are limited to one class per session. All classes meet on Monday - Thursday. Make-up for classes is on Friday mornings.
Classes are scheduled to meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings in each 2-week session, with class times offered at 9:00-9:45am, 10:00-10:45am, 11:00-11:45am, or 7:15-8:00 pm. Classes are scheduled for 45 minutes, although in-water time or class length may vary due to particular class, water temperature, or weather conditions.
